Erica Hoelscher grew up in Marshalltown, Iowa, in a family deeply engaged with community theatre. She studied theatre at Simpson College, where she worked with the Des Moines Metro Opera, and later earned an M.F.A. in stage design from Northwestern University under Professors Virgil Johnson and Samuel Ball.
Erica is a designer, educator, and artist whose work spans costume and scenic design, artmaking, and mentorship. She has designed for companies including The Colleagues Theatre Company in New York, Shadowland Theatre, Media Theatre, Shakespeare in Clark Park, Plays and Players Theatre, the Idiopathic Ridiculopathy Consortium, Arden Theatre Company, and the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival. Her artwork has been exhibited at Jasper Community Arts and the Lehigh University Art Gallery.
At Lehigh University, Erica has designed costumes and scenery for numerous productions, frequently designing scenery and costumes for the same production. She is a member of the Costume Society of America and presents regularly at its annual symposium.
Erica lives in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
